What time is each camp offered?

 

STEM Camps are offered from 9:00 – 12 Noon and 1:00 – 4:00 pm.  Please check the specifics of each camp for specific time.

Teach for America Summer School is from 8:00 – 1:00 PM.

 

Where is each camp hosted?

All camps are hosted at Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School with the exception of Invention Playground, which is offered at the RTA host site.

 

How are students selected for each camp?

All camps are first registered, first served. All online registrations will be date and time stamped at submission.  A minimum deposit of 1/3rd of the total balance is due within 2 weeks of registration to hold your child’s spot.  Failure to submit the deposit within 2 weeks will forfeit your child’s spot.

 

Will transportation be provided?

Transportation will be provided for morning pick-up, mid-day drop-off (1:00 pm) and afternoon drop-off (4:00 pm.)

 

How will I know if the registration was accepted and my child can attend camp?

All Teach for America and STEM Camp registrations will be completed through our online registration system.  When you submit your registration you will receive an email confirmation.

A total deposit of 1/3rd of your child’s balance is due within 2 weeks of registration or you can pay the balance in full.  An additional 1/3rd is due 1 month after your initial deposit.  The final 1/3rd is due by June 2.

 

What if my child wants to attend more than one camp?

Students can register for more than one camp. The registration site allows for a student to register for as many camps as they choose.

Students are limited to attending only one session of the same camp. For example, STEM in Motion is offered 2 different weeks. A student can only attend 1 session of STEM in Motion.

Students may attend iSTEM, u STEM, we all STEM, Camp Invention, Invention Project and Invention Playground every week as the curriculum will be different for each week of camp.

 

What happens if the camp I register my child for reaches capacity?

The camp registration website and the details for each camp will list the maximum number of students per camp, if there is a maximum.  Most camps do not have a maximum number of students.  For camps that have a maximum, once the maximum is reached any student that registers will be put on a waitlist.  If a confirmed student can no longer attend the first student on the waitlist will be emailed that a space has opened up and will be given the option to register.

 

When are camp fees due?

Camp fees are due at the time of registration or a minimum deposit of 1/3rd of the total balance.  The registration site will give you the option to split the payment into several payments that can be withdrawn from your bank account.  Please be aware that using the website payment system is the preferred method of payment and highly recommended.

In the event that paying online is not an option you may submit a check for payment to LCPS Central Office located on Vernon Avenue.  You will need to wait 48 hours from registration before the payment can be accepted at Central Office.  For example, if you register online at 4:00 p.m. on Monday Central Office will not be able to accept your payment until after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Any camp fees not paid by June 2, 2017 will cause cancellation of the camp and students on the waitlist will be contacted.

 

Will breakfast and lunch be provided?

Yes, breakfast and lunch are provided for students attending Teach for America, Read to Achieve and morning STEM Camp sessions.  Students only attending afternoon sessions may arrive at CSS by 12:15 to eat lunch.  An afternoon snack is provided for students attending an afternoon camp.

 

*Will my child receive a STEM Camp T-shirt?

All students registered for a STEM Summer Camp will receive a camp t-shirt.  Students will only receive one t-shirt for the entire summer regardless of the number of camps he/she is registered.
